April Showers Bring Web Ramblings

I haven't posted anything in what feels like a while. I always like to keep people (and Elliott) updated on even the mundane things. Sometimes, I don't really know what I am doing here. Over the past couple of months I have even seen the bloggers I follow question their spot on the internet. I have seen people steal their children's images and even used inappropriately. I am gullible to think there is no evil on the internet and that I cant be susceptible to it also. I am gullible to think there might be a day that sharing some of my world could back fire. {I don't share it all ~ Some is kept for just my family}.

This world of ours scares me. {Recently ~ the Boston Marathon bombings} I am mostly scared of the ignorance of  people. And I am not talking about just the terrorist. Us Americans too. I realize the unknown is intimidating and its anger that masks the fear. If we all know that knowledge is power; my one question to us all is, when will we learn? Like literally LEARN. When will we teach ourselves, communicate and become non-combative? I watched CNN mostly on Friday when Boston was shut down. And then Lyell updated me minute by minute via twitter when we went out to eat and they had found the second bomber. I am thankful that Richard and Devon took Lana to Bermuda for her birthday or I would have been a hot mess. So my immediate world was not affected at all by this, but it could easily be. Nashville is not too small to have someone target it.

But I walk on. Walk on to celebration birthdays, enjoying the weather, Lyell passing finals, fresh fruits at the farmers market. Walk on to the daily grind.Walk on to new mornings and cute smiles. Walk on to counting down to vacation. There is no other option for me. I am warmed by the stories starting to come in. The heroic ones. The good Samaritan ones. You see...I have only half tinted, rose colored glasses. I know there will always be evil in this world...I am just trying to even the playing field.

So yeah. Happy Monday. Here are some cute images to lighten the mood.

Sweet Little Nothings: 10 Months

Favorite Pastime: Turning the xbox on and off, on and off, and on and off. We have now moved it up on the top self to save the life of our console.

Being more gentler with Bentley.

Still loving lights. You point to all the lights in the house and are worried when the lights are not on in the morning. This makes me remember that I am on the hunt for some cute night lights for your room. The baby monitor we have had a night light switch on it. We are ready to get rid of it because we CAN hear you if you need us in the middle of the night. The other day we went in to Lizards and Lace to get some summer sandals...SOMEONE freaked over the disco ball they have now. Is it a light? Is it a ball? Could have care less about the abundance of cute shoes. You didn't know what to do. Other than sign light and babble on about it, making sure I knew you saw it.

Come to find out, you just want the big kid food now. Your dad and I have started to care more about what us grownups are eating, because you are wanting it too. Favorite at the moment:  anything cheese (ugh...not my proudest parenting moment to date) Favorite snack: applesauce and oranges Favorite dessert: yogurt melts (probably because that is the only dessert you really have).

You give hugs to all your toys.

You smile at everyone.

You wave at everyone and anything.

And getting down to the nitty gritty. Yesterday we spent the evening at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital Emergency Room. Little Elliott took a fall from her highchair and hit the hardwood floor pretty hard. I arrive less than 10 minutes after the nose dive. Dad drove me and Ellie and met Lyell at the Emergency room. I was completely calm, I didn't cry, I just kept Ellie laughing. We got stitched up and slept all the way home. Very uneventful for our first accident. The only 'mama bear' moment I had was when the first doctor f**ked... had to have another doctor come look, didn't like it, ripped it out and stitch it up again. Really people...this is my daughters only forehead...lets get it right the first time!!! I am very nervous about making sure we get the best care for scarring.  Anyone with suggestions...please do tell.

Happy TEN month to my little firecracker.

Welcome Back

My RunKeeper App sent me a message this week. "Welcome Back". I think the weather had a lot of motivation in me to finally put my running shoes back on and go. See...

After a lot of hurdles, my first Ultrasound we had with Apple (ha, remember little ole appleseed) was very early on. I think 4 weeks, and the doctors told me I had an uterine rupture (I mean, my body really hates me). No running and no picking up more than 5 pounds. So my happy ass sat on the couch and drank milk shacks and kept reminding everyone, I was with child and could not move. Ya know, doctors orders and all.

Insert a few several months later. Its time. And it feels good. Sometimes you just need to run. I miss running in the neighborhood early in the morning and at the greenway with Lyell late summer afternoons (not all in the same day, you cra).

I think I am posting this to let everyone know (or like my two friends, Lyell and my mom) that I have told myself to start doing this...so they can hold me accountable for this post.

So "I'm Back, Back in the runners groove"...

Tiptoe Through The Tulips

We went out to Cheekwood over the weekend. You almost HAD to go outside because the warm spring sun and vitamin D were screaming your name. Ellie had a blast. She loves the wind in her hair and an opportunity to wave at people. She is starting to copycat...notice her love for her Uncle and copying everything he does. Ellie has also learned to spit her water out, something she did not learn from her Uncle. I wish every Saturday could consist of  me, Lyell, Gale, and Ellie paling around at parks, lunch and then a little shopping at McKays. If you are planning to go to Cheeckwood, the tulips will be in full force by next weekend. We are definitely going back!
