First Week

Elliott Annabelle at one week old

My first week as a Mommy I have learned...

1. Somethings can not be planned...like when you go in to be induced and your water breaks on its own and everything goes fast forward

23. Somethings you have no control over...Like when it takes 5 tries to put in my IV, three tries for my epidural and even then you can still feel your left side.

42. I didnt know how empty my heart was until now...It grew like the Grinch who stole Christmas

45. I wanna sing the random Flo Rida song:
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah
I get a feeling that I never never never never had before, no no

56. I love Lyell more than ever... He has been such a great husband and loving every inch of becoming a father...AND he didn't pass out during the delivery (lost that bet)!

57.  A baby girl in your arms can melt hearts

61. Breast feeding is harder than I thought it would be... and there have been times over the weekend that  I thought fuck it but now I am so glad I pushed through.

68. Lyell's first Father's Day was wonderful and I am so glad he got his little girl to wrap her finger around his.

77. You can be super excited about poop...when Elliott had not pooped in three days we were getting kinda worried. UNTIL, we were all packed up and ready to go to our first doctor's appointment/check up/ actually first outing in general...and wham bam thank you ma'am...the flood gates of poo entered the Sloan household. Like I said, super excited.

83. My Ipad was the best baby present I have received (from Lyell). It keeps me organized with my feeding schedule when I'm delirious at 2am...plus I can lurk on Facebook easily at 4 in the morning.

89. Someone is starting to not have cankles...THIS GIRL.

91. Lyell is the super cute nervous parent and I am the laid back one. We finally went out for an outing and Lyell was basically sprinting through the store trying to get Elliott back home.

94. Don't hang out with my brothers ... if you don't want to rip any stitches.

97. Elliott has drugies for parents...I kid, I kid. Lyell had his second root canal done earlier this week. So I am on percocets and Lyell has lortab.

100. I can't stop looking at our pictures we took with Brooke Kelley: http://brookekellyphotography.blogspot.com/2012/06/elliott-annabelle-8-days-nashville.html

I love this image because my great grandfather made this doll bed for me when I was a little girl and my great grandmother made the little pillows and ruffle blanket. I cant wait for a home with a playroom so I can bring all my doll houses ect to my house (storage unit parents house still has it all).

40 weeks

How far along? 40 Weeks

Stretch marks? A few below my belly botton. I think it looks horriable, but Lyell assures me it does not look bad. I think he is just trying to get brownie points and its working. But to be honest, I have seen much much worse.

Sleep:  I have been super tired this week, so I have been sleeping pretty well. Lyell keeps telling me I sound like I am dying with a weird hyperventilating snore.

Best moment this week: Being so close. We have a plan in place, so I am now just trying to calmly wait for apple's arrival. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and after our little meeting he asked if I had time to do a quick ultrasound. Umm...Yes! We measured her and the guesstimated weight at the moment was 8lbs 10oz. The ultrasound tech keep trying to get her to move. I coughed, rolled both ways and poked her and she was not budging. So the lady asked if she could shock her. Shock her? I guess? So the tech pulled out this buzzer and shocked my belly for just a second. AND there Apple went! I personally thought it was cute. I don't know what kind of mother that makes me.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No, but the coffee this has not changed :) And yes, Lyell has gotten a new coffee maker. In fact, its nicer than the little red one he had.

Name: You know the drill. I have no clue.

Gender: Girl

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? Off

Miss Anything? Bonnaroo. LOL. I have never been. Every year there has been something that prevents me from going. I guess this "something" is a good reason.

Movement: Just small rolls. She has been nice and quiet the past couple of days.

Food cravings: Chinese Food. No joke, I have had it three times already this week. Don't put it pass me to want it for dinner tonight.

Labor Signs: Nothing. Her head is down but that's about it.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and Ready!

Looking forward to: Her arrival. I feel like these questions have obvious answers. Hello! I am ready to go!

Random Side Items: Last week Lyell started complaining about a tooth ache. So he went to the dentist finding out he needs not one but two root canals and now. So they are finishing up his first root canal today (yeah, like my due date). We were joking that my water would break and Lyell would be all doped up which would leave me to carry him out to our car and drive myself to the hospital battling the CMA Fest traffic (kinda like Father of the Bride Part II).

Also, something I don't think I have mentioned that I want to remember when looking back at this. This entire pregnancy has prevented me to go to any and all concerts. Bought Theophilus London tickets in Atlanta and found out that week that I had to get a prescription for the first trimester that cost 500 bucks a month... decided not to spend the money and time off work to go down there. Bought Justice tickets. Freakin Justice and I was super excited. Two co-workers had to take off the week of the concert and no one could take off (we only have 8 employees, so having two gone is a noticeable difference). Aziz came and went...got tickets and somehow we just didn't go. Then came M83 and I just couldn't do it. At that point my legs and feet were too swollen. So, tonight on the BIG DUE DAY I have purchased tickets to go see prometheus at midnight with Lyell and Gale. Lets see if the streak continues.

Wordless Wednesday: Waiting

Waiting is not my strong suit :)

Visiting with my Granddad

Craft Project

Dinner with Hubby: Panda Express

Random Picture of Lyell's All Time Favorite Food

Putting up a fan in the Nursery: Sid Cautious :)

Putting away my Maternity Clothes

Made my Favorite Cookies

Washed my car to get ready to put the car seat in.

And my favorite thing I did this week... My mom and I took a embroidery & applique class. Here is my first attempt. I think it turned out great for my first time. I cant wait to have a name so I can make some more. I am NOT trying to do this for a living. I have a wonderful friend, Stephanie that  does this and is super great at it. Check her out here. Of course my little Beaz was my helper and watched me diligently while I was working away.

And the final product. Appleseed's first outfit.

What Beaz thinks of it all:
